6-Week Wheel Course (L1)

at Balham · South London, SW12 9AZ

Six-week beginner wheel course at Balham — small groups, all materials and firing included.

Learn the wheel from scratch in South London — a six-week beginner course at our Balham studio that takes you from your first ball of clay to your own glazed pieces. Guided by our studio team, you’ll learn to wedge and centre clay, throw simple forms, trim and finish them, and glaze your favourites at the end of the course.

Each week builds on the last in a small, relaxed group, so the wheel stops feeling like a mystery and starts feeling like yours. No experience needed — just curiosity and clothes that can meet some clay.

Course details

  • Duration: six weekly classes of 2 hours

  • Cost: £260, with all materials and firing included

  • Where: our Balham full studio, two minutes from Balham station

Me and my friend had a great experience at Social Pottery Making. The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable even as beginners. The painting session was fun. All the staff are lovely and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested.

Social Pottery helped us organize a beautiful pottery painting workshop for 30 students! Everyone had a great time. Chloe was especially helpful through the process, and extremely accommodating to all our requests! A must do for anyone looking for a nice decompression workshop!

KADRA made us feel so welcomed and gave us a tutorial at the beginning. She kept on checking up on us too. I ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk and it was really nice. Overall wholesome vibe 😊. Will 100% recommend this to friends and will come again🙌🏾🥳
