Five London Date Nights That Beat Another Dinner

31 July 2026 · Social Pottery · 2 min read

London date nights have a pattern: dinner, drinks, the same three questions, home. Nice — but nobody frames the receipt. Here are five plans that end with something you can actually keep, most of them within walking distance of one of our studios.

1. Paint each other a mug (then swap)

The classic for a reason. Book a late-night or Sip & Paint session, bring a couple of cans (we're BYOB, 18+), and each of you paints a piece for the other. You don't see the result until it comes back glazed two weeks later — a second date, built in.

2. Get your hands dirty at the wheel

If painting feels too tidy, our wheel taster classes in Camden, Balham and Milton Keynes put you both behind a spinning wheel with an expert keeping the clay (mostly) under control. Fair warning: the Ghost scene recreation is mandatory. Nobody has ever skipped it.

Good to knowEvery wheel taster includes two pieces to keep, with glazing and firing covered — no hidden extras when the bill lands.

3. Do the market + studio double

Camden Market chaos first, then five minutes up the road to Studio 221 on Royal College Street for a hand-building workshop. One half of the date is loud, the other is quietly competitive.

4. Serata Fridays — paint after dark

Every Friday at Kentish Town our Serata DJ nights turn the studio into the calmest party in London: £5 entry, a DJ, and 300+ pieces to choose from. Arrive as a date, leave as regulars.

5. Gift it forward

Not free this weekend? A Date Night gift card (Painting for Two £60, or Date Night at the Wheel £95) turns "we should do something" into a plan with a date on it. Valid 12 months, delivered instantly.

Whichever you pick, the formula is the same: two people, a bit of clay, and proof it happened sitting on the shelf. See you in the studio.
